The Chronicle of Higher Education reports on the strategy of High Point University in North Carolina to differentiate itself from competitors. To increase customer satisfaction (and in the university president's view the student is the customer), High Point offers a "jaw dropping menu of student services." From live music in the cafeterias, concierge services, birthday recognition, and miscellaneous other gifts and services, High Point takes sucking up to students to a new level. Not surprisingly, entrollment has tripled since the new president took over.
I wonder if they are hiring faculty??
