This was a very thought provoking article. I find it very interesting that Street News failed in New York as early as 2007, but street papers in other cities have successfully formed since. The article fails to mention that another reason for efficiency gains, in addition to differentiation, for selling street papers is the fact that it is a gift exchange transaction.
